When it comes to bad press, broccoli knows a lot about it.

This humble brassica has spent decades being the poster girl of vegetables that parents force their unwilling kids to eat. Its nutritional value and the novelty that it looks like tiny trees are overshadowed by the fact that just because it seems healthy, it must be pretty gross.

Obviously, those who are both mature and enlightened know that this could not be further from the truth. There are plenty of tasty ways you can prepare this iconic green vegetable, if you just have a little know-how. It can also serve as a useful euphemism from time to time, and that is pretty fun also.

Considering that many of them probably had the whole not-eating-the-broccoli fight with their parents at some point, it is kind of ironic that one of the defining haircuts of Gen Z men has become the broccoli head. It is yet more proof of its continuing cultural impact, which is nothing to sniff at considering it was first invented in the 6th century BC. This stuff knows how to keep itself relevant.

Naturally, this also means that broccoli is one of the more popular vegetables to be paid tribute to in meme form. Both the lovers and the haters have plenty to say about it, and all that it has come to represent. Even if it is not going to find its way onto your plate any time soon, you can enjoy the humor that it brings to your screen.
